DR, DA, and Traffic on Two Real Rows

TECH-107 against AI-108, then the buying decision for two different products. DR is about 1.9 times higher. Traffic is 25 times higher. The price is about 5.4 times higher. Those are not the same choice.

The cells

The drawer labels the first box Ahrefs DR and the second Moz DA. Traffic is its own box. The hero copy calls that traffic figure Google Analytics traffic. Spam Score, Completion, and TAT are the other three. Below are two rows from the catalog shipped with the site. The divisions are the cells divided. They are not a market study. If the cells change, redo the division from the table rather than quoting this paragraph.

76 / 39 is about 1.9. 310,000 / 12,400 is 25. 349 / 65 is about 5.4. Price per thousand listed visits is about $1.13 on TECH-107 and about $5.24 on AI-108. The cheap row is the expensive one per listed visit, and the expensive row is a newsroom. None of this is the cost per customer. You are not buying 310,000 visits. You are buying a paragraph on a site that has them.

Decision A: a finance SaaS with no news peg

Ledgerline, the teaching renewal product, does not have a funding announcement or a lawsuit or a data finding a news desk would assign. TECH-107's hint is venture and startup news. The $349 buys the wrong room. AI-108's hint is an LLM and coding-tool directory. Also the wrong room. The right rows are SAAS-102 at $119 and SAAS-109 at $179, which are not in this table because this table is about how DR misleads, not about the whole catalog. Walking away from both TECH-107 and AI-108 is the correct use of the cells. A buyer who 'picks the higher DR' spends $349 to be on a news site with nothing to report.

Decision B: a coding assistant that just published a benchmark

Now the product is a coding assistant, and the page you will link is a public benchmark write-up, not a login. AI-108's hint matches. DR 39 and 12,400 visits are the size of that directory. $65 and a 2-day TAT fit a small test. You still run delivery-day checks. The low price is why teams skip them. Do not skip them.

TECH-107 becomes plausible only if the benchmark is a story a startup-news editor would run, with a finding and a date. Then you are paying $349 for a news piece, and the target URL is the benchmark, and the anchor is the product name. You are not buying it because 76 is greater than 39. If the 'story' is the feature list, you are back in decision A and the news row comes off. Google News marked yes on TECH-107 does not mean your feature list becomes news.

What not to average

Do not average DR 76 and DA 79 into an authority score. They are different models, both domain-level. URL Rating, Ahrefs' page score, is not in the drawer. If the specific article matters, open the tool after the URL exists. Do not average the spam strings. Under 1% and 1% are labels without a methodology on this blog. Completion at 100% and 98% is what the rows print. It is not an audit of on-time delivery. TAT is the number you put on the calendar: 5 days versus 2. Country is the number you match to the buyer: US 58% versus US 43%. A product that only sells in one country writes that share down before calling the higher DR more relevant.

Sort order that survives both decisions: topic sentence first, then country, then whether you need a news peg, then price, then DR as a tiebreak inside a niche. DR first is how decision A spends $349. The gap sheet puts catalog match in its own column so the export cannot collapse back into this sort.

Write the decision in the note in the same shape every time, so a teammate can audit it. 'Product: coding assistant. Page: public benchmark. AI-108 matches the directory hint. Country US 43% is acceptable because the readers are developers. DR 39 is the tiebreak we did not need. Price $65. TECH-107 not used: no news peg. Delivery checks still required.' That paragraph is the whole article applied once. If you cannot write it, you have not chosen. Opening the cart while the paragraph is blank is the DR-first sort sneaking back in.

FAQ

Should I always pay more per thousand listed visits to get the higher DR?

No. The ratio is a warning that $65 is not automatically efficient. The purchase is still the paragraph and the audience. Decision A rejects both rows. Decision B takes the lower DR because the directory matches a coding tool. DR breaks ties after the topic fits.
